When I Was A Kid I Think The Thing I Remembered Most About The Exorcist Was Linda Blair Being Possessed By The Devil, And How Scary That Was. It Had A Lot Of Parallels For Me Because The Movie Was Challenging Different Ideas About Faith And It Was Looking At Religion In A Darker Way. Growing Up I Was Afraid Of Being Possessed By The Devil, As An Adult I'm Afraid Of Being Possessed By The World, By Ignorance, And Not Holding On To My Beliefs And What I Feel Strongly About.

Gradually, I Began To Resent Christian School And Doubt Everything I Was Told. It Became Clear That The Suffering They Were Praying To Be Released From Was A Suffering They Had Imposed On Themselves—and Now Us. The Beast They Lived In Fear Of Was Really Themselves: It Was Man, Not Some Mythological Demon, That Was Going To Destroy Man In The End. And This Beast Had Been Created Out Of Their Fear.

The Burden Of Originality Is One That Most People Don't Want To Accept. They'd Rather Sit In Front Of The Tv And Let That Tell Them What They're Supposed To Like, What They're Supposed To Buy, And What They're Supposed To Laugh At.
